Snickerdoodle

Ingredients:

1/2 cup vegetable shortening

1/2 cup softened, salted butter

1 1/2 cups granulated sugar

2 large eggs

1 tablespoon vanilla extract

2 3/4 cups all purpose flour

2 teaspoons cream of tartar

1 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 teaspoon salt

5 tablespoons granulated sugar

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Southern Italian Sausage Pot Pie

Ingredients:

approx. 2/3 lb of Italian sausage

1 medium red potato, cubed

3 tbsp butter

6 tbsp Olive Oil

1/2 medium red onion, chopped

4 garlic cloves, chopped

1/3 cup all purpose (plain) flour

1 1/2 cups chicken broth/stock

1/2 cup whole milk

2 tbsp salt**

2 tbsp black pepper

3  tbsp garlic powder

2 tbsp dried thyme leaf

2 tbsp dried dill

2 tbsp dried oregano

2 tbsp dried tarragon

2 tsp mustard seed powder

3 tsp ginger powder

1 cup frozen peas and carrots

2 pie crusts (top and bottom)

Ingredients:

2 1/2 cups (12 1/2 ounces) unbleached all-purpose flour.

1 teaspoon table salt.

2 tablespoons sugar.

12 tablespoons (1 1/2 sticks) cold unsalted butter, cut into 1/4-inch slices.

1/2 cup cold vegetable shortening, cut into 4 pieces.

1/4 cup cold vodka

1/4 cup cold water.

Ingredients:

2 1/2 cups all-purpose whole wheat flour plus more for dusting
2 tablespoons baking powder
1 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon salt
8 tablespoons cold unsalted butter
1 cup buttermilk (1 cup of whole milk and 1 Tbs of vinegar)
2 tablespoon salted butter melted to brush on top

1⁄4 cup brown sugar
2 tablespoons lemon juice

3 tablespoon garlic powder
2 tablespoons dill
3 teaspoon ground mustard seed
2 tablespoons salt/ pepper
1 teaspoon of cayenne pepper/ tarragon *optional*
