Germane

Artist: Cydney M. Lewis

She made you relevant

You were just a silhouette

Without a color, soul, face or presence

But she some how saw a glimmer

A tiny trinket from your heart

This was never offered by you

She declared love over it

Way before you even knew it was there

Your physique, thoughts, mouth, hair, purpose

Was chosen before you ever saw hers

She took care of you

All your insecure parts

She had covered with assurance

Your eyes were purposely shut

There was no way you noticed her

How could you?

You received it all as if it was a joke

Taking every morsel of her love for granted

Because to you it was all that you needed

to get further

Soaking up in something you couldn't produce yourself

His heart grew cold with contentment

While hers grew hot with contempt

Dysfunction was y'all's bond from the start

Profane ended up being y'all's love

Wounds are y'all's sacred history

She knows that light is hardly missed

Because she knows it means leaving you in the darkness
